Today is Valentine’s Day. I have a hard time understanding holidays which traditionally require us to treat other people differently than we normally would. Today, we are supposed to let our romantic partners know that they are special to us. Why do we need a holiday for this? Surely if our partners are special to us (and they should be), we can take some time to let them know without there being a need for a holiday requiring such activity. I think the best way to show someone you care about them is to do Valentine’s Day-esque stuff on days that aren’t special occasions.
